About SAGOMITH

WHAT?

I’m doing The 2018 National 3 Peaks Challenge, that is climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, the highest mountains in Scotland, England & Wales, all within 24 hours, (including the driving in between).

WHY?

To raise funds for Bishop Fleming Truro office’s designated charity for 2018, Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust. It is a fantastic charity that is vital to the well being of everyone in Cornwall and which is 100% dependent on raising funds from the public.

WHEN?

It was supposed to be over the weekend of the longest day, 22 to 25th of June, but has been postponed to the 7th to 10th September – 4 hours more darkness but hopefully cooler conditions.

HOW?

It is organised by 360 Degree Expeditions on behalf of the Air Ambulance. We have to raise at least £995 each (and pay for our equipment and get ourselves to Glasgow and back from Snowdon) but we are aiming at much more than that.

WHO?

I’m a Chartered Accountant & Tax Advisor, working for Bishop Fleming. The Air Ambulance is our office designated charity for 2018 and I’m a former member of the Dartmoor Rescue Group so it seemed obvious that I should go for this, were it not for the fact that I’m nearly 58, rather sedentary, a chocoholic cheese-eating wine-lover and, until recently, 1lb away from being officially obese.

O.M.G. what have I let myself in for?

SAGOMITH?

Our campaign is to raise money to Send A Grumpy Old Man Into The Hills and SAGOMITH is the hashtag to link the campaign together. I wish I knew what “hashtag” meant, but I am assured by my younger colleagues that it makes sense.
